The creative writing magnet is a writing intensive course in which students explore a variety of literary texts, genres and styles. Creative writers participate in a workshop style seminar in which they draft, edit and revise writings through collaboration and feedback from their peers and instructor. Texts explored in this magnet are widely varied and range from the works of Edgar Allan Poe to the poet Emily Dickinson. Workshops are often interdisciplinary, as students are encouraged to incorporate elements of creative mediums such as visual art, or works from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Creative writers also have the opportunity to interact and attend workshops featuring published authors. The creative writing magnet is a journey from the “page” to the “stage” -- we hope you will join us!
