How to Write an Email-

Read the article and answer ONE discussion question in paragraph form.

The first unit of study in sixth grade ELA will be primarily centered on Mythology and “the hero’s journey” theme in literature.  We want our incoming students to achieve at their highest potential. With that in mind we have a created summer reading list that will offer every child valuable background knowledge in the subject matter. Your child should read THREE of the books below and complete THREE literary responses which will be handed in the first week of school to their ELA teacher.  Completing these assignments will count towards the DOE’s 25 book campaign. Your encouragement is the key factor to their success.  FORMAT: You will write three book reports using the following essay format as your guide. Responses should be typed or neatly handwritten with a proper heading (Name, Date, Grade, and Teacher). 

You do not need to choose the books on the list that is a suggested list of books. You must read books that will answer the questions.

All students should be typing their essays directly into google classroom you do not need a heading.


RESOURCES: Students may also substitute another book or texts it does not have to be on the list. It just needs to answer the questions.

You will share your essays with your new ELA teacher in September. 
These 3 book reports will go towards the 25 you will need to complete for the year.

Please complete this Summer into 6th Grade assessment to see how much you remember 5th grade math. Answer each question to the best of your ability. If you don't remember how to do something, take your best guess. You will receive a completion grade at the end. When you complete it you automatically get a 100 on your first math assignment. Please show your work on a piece of paper, take a picture of your work and upload it as the last question. 

Students need to complete a health examination before entering into 6th grade. Please print and complete the form attached when you go. 
You will then upload the filled out forms signed from the doctor before September 13.
