Monday 6/8 Racial Injustice in Google Classroom

Monday 6/8 Racial Injustice

Students
As I shared last week, these signs of racial discrimination are becoming evermore visible yet we still have the opportunity of using our voice to continue to fight against them. Last week, I read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and it was a powerful reminder of the pains that we experience as a race, from slavery to incarceration. When compared with the current happenings, police brutality, wrongful convictions, disproportionate COVID deaths in Black and Hispanic Communities, it is quite blatant that individual and systemic racism is still existent today. This is the cry of the protesters. I encourage you to read, listen to podcasts, watch a documentary (try 13th on Netflix) on the roots of the pain we share. Continue to use you voice!

Assignment: Watch this Ted Talk and in no less that 5 sentences, write a reflection on what you heard. A reflection may contain a short summary, your thoughts, examples of something that stand out, etc.
