Remote Learning Preparedness for Families

Dear Families,

As we monitor the upcoming weather forecast, we want to make sure everyone is prepared for a smooth transition to remote learning if it becomes necessary. Our goal is to keep our students’ learning routines consistent, even if we cannot be in the building.

To help your child prepare, please take a moment to:

  • Check the Device: Ensure your child’s computer is charged and updated.
  • Log In Early: Make sure your child can successfully log into TeachHub, Zoom and Google Classroom.
  • Internet Connection: Please ensure that your child has access to the internet at home. If for some reason you do not, please contact the school as soon as possible.

Any support needed with your child’s computer, students can go to the technology office(231) today or tomorrow. From home at any time, families can use our virtual support classroom  to contact our Technology staff or get quick support.

To stay fully informed, we recommend making our school website, www.is228.org, your first stop for a complete overview of official school news. For daily, class-specific information, please check your child’s Grade Level Google Classroom regularly, we use this platform to post the most immediate updates for students. Beyond these digital classrooms, we will also send critical school-wide alerts and reminders directly to your phone via Remind and the NYC Schools platform.

To ensure you receive these messages without delay, please verify that all your contact information is current on your child's NYC Schools Account. Checking these platforms frequently is the best way to stay updated on weather-related changes or important schedule shifts. For any questions or assistance you can contact Ms. Liberta, Assistant Principal of Technology or Ms. Alexa Calisto, the Parent Coordinator.

Thank you,

I.S. 228 Administration
