Description
The Dance Magnet at David A. Boody Middle School offers one of the most comprehensive middle school dance programs in Brooklyn. This three-year program provides students with a strong foundation in a variety of dance styles, while also promoting creativity, discipline, and appreciation for the performing arts.
Dance classes take place daily in our professional dance studio, which is equipped with full-length mirrors and a sprung marley floor—just like the pros use. From the basics of ballet to the high energy of hip-hop, students explore a wide range of genres including:

Dance Talent Application Instructions
Before you present your dance piece, please introduce yourself. Please provide the following information:
- Your name (first name, last name)
- Your current elementary school
- Your Student ID number (OSIS number)
- What style of dance you will be performing?
- Why is dancing important to you? Why do you want to be part of Dance Talent? (30 seconds or less)
Perform your dance solo piece.
Your dance should be one to two minutes in length. It can be any style of dance you feel most comfortable with.
Please make sure you are recording your full body and movements. Record as if the camera was your audience and that it is far enough away so that we can see your whole self. This video will be used to assess the following dance criteria: Musicality, creativity, originality, coordination, flexibility, technique, and expression.
