Respect for All: Preventing and Addressing Student-to-Student Discrimination, Sexual and Other Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying

Respect for All & Preventing Bullying

  • Inclusion & Safety: The school strictly prohibits bullying, harassment, intimidation, and discrimination.

  • Respect for All Week: Held in February, this week features activities and lessons focused on diversity, acceptance, and preventing bias.

  • If Your Child is Being Bullied: Reach out directly to your grade-level staff, including Deans, Assistant Principals, and Counselors.

Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship (Online Safety)

Parent Responsibilities:

  • Talk with your child about acceptable online behavior and review school rules (Discipline Code and Social Media Guidelines).

  • Monitor your child's online activity outside of school, including mobile apps and games.

Student Responsibilities:

  • Follow all school technology rules and treat others with respect online and offline.

  • Keep Information Safe: Protect passwords, do not save passwords on school devices, and never give out personal details online without parent approval.

  • Stay Safe: Never meet someone in person that you only met online without a parent’s permission.

Attendance

Attendance & Reporting Absences

  • Daily Tracking: Attendance is required by law. Students are marked P (Present) or A (Absent). Excused absences (for illness or religious observances) are still recorded as absences on the student's official record.

  • Absence Alerts: The school will call or message home if your child is absent or late. Keep your contact details updated in your NYCSA account.

  • How to Report an Absence: Use the I.S. 228 Online Absentee Form.
