****I will upload the Evidence Collector after this post, in case you lost yours or do not know where to pick up where you left off.****

Here is an example of a body (MEAEAL) paragraph:
Main Point/My Claim: Lyddie should not sign the petition because if she does, she will get blacklisted.

Context/Background information about the book:
At this point in the novel, the girls are able to sign the petition. However, they are scared of being dismissed and blacklisted.

Evidence #1:
According to the text, on page 91 it states, “I’ve have half a mind to sign the blooming petition. I’m thinking of you.

Evidence #2: ” On page 92, it states, “What will you do with no job? You’d be blacklisted. No other corporation will hire you anywhere.”
Analysis: These quotes show that Lyddie is considering signing. It expresses what the risks of signing the petition will be. Lyddie is a smart girl and should make the smart decision.

Link/Restate my main point: If Lyddie signs the petition, she will put her future at stake. She needs to remain working, or she won’t be able to pay off her family’s debts.

Learning Target:
Today I will complete an Evidence Collector based on the novel, Lyddie.
So that I can brainstorm ideas for my Argumentative Essay.
I’ll know I’ve got it when I can select 2 pieces of relevant textual evidence that support my claim about whether or not Lyddie should sign the petition.

CCLS:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.7.1.A- Introduce claim(s), acknowledge alternate or opposing claims, and organize the reasons and evidence logically.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.7.1.B- Support claim(s) with logical reasoning and relevant evidence, using accurate, credible sources and demonstrating an understanding of the topic or text.
