CONGRATULATIONS, EVERYONE! YOU'VE OFFICIALLY FINISHED THE 7TH GRADE!

Don't worry, today isn't going to be a real long lesson, I just want you to think about this whole school year, and tell me your favorite part, and why. Then you can go on and enjoy your summer and get ready to become the new seniors of David A. Boody!

As always, the question is attached below on Google Doc.'s.

ONE MORE DAY OF SEVENTH GRADE AFTER TODAY! WOW!

Since you guys will officially be 8th graders as of Friday, I think now is a great time to watch the trailer for a movie called "8th Grade." This movie is 2 years old and had an actual 8th grader playing the character. Some of you may have seen the film already, all I'm asking you to do is watch the trailer, attached below. The movie was very famous and well received by audiences because of it's accurate portrayal of what being a student around your age is actually like.

I'm also attaching an article about the movie that is OPTIONAL to read, if you'd like to know more about the film. It does contain spoilers however, so if you do want to watch the film after seeing the trailer and don't want to ruin anything, keep that in mind.

Watch the video, and answer the question on the Google Doc.

Day 2 of ReadWorks. Since it's only day 2 working with this program, I'm attaching what I wrote yesterday, below. If you forgot, the same steps below apply today. You're going to click on whatever assignment YOU have on your "Assignments to Do" list.

All you have to do is following the steps below:

4) Log In with you Google Classroom Account

6) You will simply do the assignment assigned to you for that day

ReadWords is similar to i-Ready in that you will have passages to read and questions to answer. However, ReadWorks is more interactive, and everyone's passages will be different. Once you complete your daily assignment it'll be turned in and graded and you're done.

ReadWorks is pretty straight forward and easy to follow. However, this is our first time using it, so if you have any questions please email your teachers and we will help you as soon as possible.

Today we will be working on a "See, Think, Wonder" activity. We've done these before, so you should be familiar. If not, here's a brief recap:

When we look at an image while doing a "See, Think, Wonder" we have specific things to document.

See: Physically what you see in the image. Like shapes, colors, facts. Things that cannot be disputed.
Think: What we think or believe is happening in the image. Are these people? Are they doing something? What do we think the image is showing the viewer?
Wonder: Something we WONDER or question about the image. Why did the artist do this verse this. etc.

You have two pieces of art. Your job is to fill out the "See, Think, Wonder" chart for both images with AT LEAST 5 THINGS in each category. You can obviously do more than 5 if you'd like to. After that, answer the question below and then click "TURN IN" so you get credit for the assignment.

Today we will be taking a virtual College tour! You're going to click the attached link, and follow the following instructions.

1) Go to: https://www.youvisit.com/collegesearch/
2) After you've gone to the above site, click the "Filters" button at the top right hand corner
3) There will be a drop down tab that says "Select State". Click on it and select "New York"
4) After you select "New York" your page will be updated to virtual tours of New York Colleges only.
(Obviously we all can go to any college in any state when the time comes, but for today we want to look at what our home state of New York has to offer)
5) Scroll through your list of options, and click a college you want to tour
6) When you find a college, click the "360 Experience" option NOT the "Virtual Reality" option.
7) Once you click this, some tours will start right away, others might ask you "Which Campus" you'd like to tour because some colleges have several locations. You can choose whichever you'd like.
8) Once you finish your tour, answer the question in the Google Form attached to this lesson.

Enjoy this activity, and remember to have fun! This should be a fun and eye opening experience to what your future could be.

*** REMINDER *** Click "TURN IN" on the Doc when you are done so you get credit for today's assignment.
