718-Galletta Assignments

I’m sorry this did not post to all 3 classes for some reason! This is the lesson for today, you will be starting your body paragraphs.

Hello 712, 713, and 718,

As a Do Now for today I want us to organize all the work we did last week. Attached is a graphic organizer where you will copy and paste your thesis statement, your introduction paragraph, and your two body paragraphs. You are able to edit the text that says (Edit Text) but you will not be able to edit anything else. Please make sure you turn in the assignment using the Turn In button. If you are unsure how to do this, in the class materials folder there is a video that explains how to turn in your work on Google Classroom.

Directions: Write an acrostic poem about Lyddie using facts from the novel. The first word in each sentence should start with each letter in the word, LYDDIE. You must associate each letter of Lyddie with a characteristic, choose an image that correlates with that characteristic, and then give evidence why you chose that characteristic.

Directions: Pretend you are Lyddie who is writing a letter to the local help section in the newspaper called, “Dear Dr. Help”. She wants advice on everything she is dealing with in Chapters 17-18. Write the letter from Lyddie below, then write the return letter from Dr. Help.

Today I want to take a break from reading Lyddie and I want you all to do a bit of research. I want everyone to submit a piece of art that is either directly from the 1840's or depicts the 1840's. It must be focused on child labor, petitions, or factory life. Give me a bit of history about the piece you choose (artist, date, location) and explain why you chose this particular piece. Remember art work includes, pictures, paintings, drawing, music, poems, etc. INCLUDE YOUR CHOSE IN YOUR SUBMISSION.

Directions: Research black lung disease as discussed in these chapters (17-18). Write a brief description to explain exactly what black lung disease is and how people get it. Then write five unique facts about black lung disease that others might not know, but would find interesting.
