Good morning 719!

Today you will read a folktale called "The People Could Fly"

Between the 1600s and 1800s, millions of Africans were taken forcibly to the Americas as enslaved people. They were forced to work on the plantations of the American colonies. Despite the hardships of oppression(cruel punishment and control), these people held on to a strong sense of tradition, passing stories from generation to generation. Virginia Hamilton (1934–2002) grew up listening to such stories. As an adult, she put many of them into writing and wrote a number of her own books about African American history and culture.

After reading and listening, you will complete your google doc assignment
