Good morning everyone,
As I'm sure you are all aware, there is an uproar in our communities across the world to fight racial injustice. We are experiencing unity like we have never seen before, fighting and peaceful protesting for equality amongst all races. We are being reminded and taught of the terrible hardships that Black communities have had to deal with for a very long time and now is the time we end it once and for all. We are very lucky to live where we do, in a "melting pot" of people from all different backgrounds, ethnicities and religions. We have grown up being taught to love our neighbors no matter their race or background, but unfortunately not everyone gets to grow up this way. Now is when we all have to stick together to stand up for what's right and end racial injustice.

You are not too young to inspire change.

Assignment: Watch this Ted Talk and in no less that 5 sentences, write a reflection on what you heard. A reflection may contain a short summary, your thoughts, examples of something that stand out, etc.

It's one of my favorite lessons because it really allows us to think what the Earth looked like hundreds of millions of years ago. Hi class, as you know last week was Teachers Appreciation Week 2020. It was a week that students and teachers can reflect on the accomplishments that can be found in the classroom (and at home!). We were very busy last week so we did not get a chance to complete this small assignment that I've given you today.

Hi class, as I mentioned last week, you will be completing a "Rocks and Minerals" quiz today. This quiz has 33 multiple choice questions that come almost directly from what we've learned over the last few weeks. Please try your best to do as well as you can on the quiz, but do not stress if there are questions that you dont understand or need help with. This quiz will be open book so you will be allowed to use slides/notes/questions from past assignments to help you complete it. Please let me know if you need any help or have any questions.

Located in New York City, it's always been one of my favorite places to visit because of how many cool exhibits the museum has. Everyone can find something that they're interested here and I highly recommend you visit the museum one day! Make sure to answer all questions completely to receive full credit for the assignment.

Hi class, I hope everyone is doing well and taking this week to relax and reflect on the positive things in life. Todays assignment is a virtual trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium located in California. There wont be any panda's or tiger's in todays virtual trip but I promise, you'll be able to see some really cool marine life. Hi class, throughout what we thought was going to be Spring Break, we are going to be going on some virtual field trips together. Your assignments will come directly from what we observe from these virtual field trips. These trips will take place in different locations from now until the end of next week and you will all be responsible for completing the work.

For our first virtual field trip destination, we will be exploring one of the most famous zoos in the entire world, the San Diego Zoo. The website offers so many fun links, videos and live-streams that will have you thinking you're standing feet away from these animals. I lived in San Diego a few years ago and this was one of my favorite places to visit so I thought I'd share these fun experiences with you all. I hope you enjoy!

Hi class, todays lesson covers "Igneous Rocks". Over the last week or so, we've learned about the surface of the earth and have gained knowledge about the earths layers as well. Moving forward, we will be covering types of rocks, starting with igneous.

1. Watch the video Mr. Burns put together that explains igneous rocks. You might have to download the file since it is a pretty large one. This video is important because we will be using it over the next couple of days.

2. Next, after you've downloaded and watched the igneous rocks video, move on to the google form and answer the questions related to our topic.

If you have any questions on the assignment, feel free to send me a message or an email. There are ways to work around problems. We are all learning how to navigate remote learning together but I will not accept excuses for not attempting to do the work because of small issues.

Attached, you will see a document that contains a 6-part mini lesson that teaches us how we can achieve good mental health which can really come in handy during these crazy times.

Step 1: When you open the document, please click the link that says "click here" under the title, "Why should we teach mindfulness?" and watch the short youtube video.

Step 2: After you watch the youtube video, please scroll down and click on the link that says "Lesson 1: Mindful Breath"

Step 3: Once the lesson 1 document is open, please read through pages 1 and 2. Once you've finished reading, scroll down and click the link to watch another short video on page 3 under "Watch this". Finally, fill in each of the editable charts found on pages 3-5.
